FAQ

Where is the Villa?

Port Douglas in tropical Far North Queensland, Australia

42 Murphy Street, Port Douglas QLD 4877

How do I get to the Villa?

Flights: Cairns Airport in the township of Cairns is the closest airport to Port Douglas. It is approximately one hours drive.

Murphy Street runs parallel to the main town strip, Macrossan Street.

To find the Villa, when approaching Port Douglas on Davison Street, take the left onto Macrossan Street. Then, take the first right onto Owen Street then right again onto Murphy Street.

From there take the first left up what looks like a long driveway and keep following it around to the left. This street is quite steep. You will see the large gates and garage of the Villa on the right.

How many rooms/beds does the Villa have? Can I rearrange the bedding? What about portacots?

There are seven bedrooms: three king rooms and four queen rooms.

Unfortunately, bedding cannot be rearranged or made into singles.

The maximum number of guests staying at the property is 18.

There is the option of adding:

  • Two single rollaway beds at an additional cost of $50 per bed per night

  • Two double fold-out beds at an additional cost of $75 per bed per night

You can book a different number of rooms for each night of your stay if you wish. The minimum number is four. All beds are made up for your arrival except in the case that you want to utilise the extra beds for later in your stay in which case we would have someone come in and make up the extra beds for you.

What about babies/toddlers?

There are two portacots at the Villa which are free to use however guests must erect these themselves.

There are also two high chairs. Please let us know if you will need any of these items.

The pool is fully fenced and has a current safety certificate.

There is also a baby gate that can be used on the stairs if required.

What about accessibility?

Unfortunately, the Villa is not the most accessible property as it is built into the side of a hill. The streets leading up to the property are steep. There are many stairs both inside and outside the property and it is not recommended for those with a lower level of mobility.

What about vehicles/parking?

The streets leading up to the Villa are long and steep. The turn onto the driveway is a hairpin bend so we do not recommend for long vehicles or cars with trailers attempt to drive to the Villa.

There is a double garage available for guest use and there is also street parking.

I want to hold a function/gathering at the Villa

We welcome small gatherings with less than 30 people in total (this includes caterers, photographers etc) for functions/gatherings.

The Villa is located in a residential area thus noise restrictions are enforced. All noise is required to cease at 9:30 pm in line with council regulations. We ask that guests need to be considerate of neighbours at all times.

Given these conditions, please consider whether the Villa is the right place for your group.

There is a minimum booking of five nights of which the whole Villa needs to be booked for three nights if you are holding a function.

The dining room table seats twelve and you can add an extra seat to each end using smaller downstairs chairs making the maximum total fourteen.

We ask that no extra furniture be brought into the property and no big furniture be moved or removed.

Bathrooms

All bedrooms have private ensuites and there are additional powder rooms located near the lounge and next to the pool.

The two queen room ensuites on the first floor have deep spa tubs while the rest of the bathrooms have showers.

Amenities (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, soap) are provided and each room has a hair dryer.

All linen, bathroom and pool towels are provided.

Please remember, Villa Empat Puluh Dua is a holiday home

And not a function venue or hotel. We can assist you with your reservation and questions however not with organising your stay or event.
